What is Prototype?
Prototype is an open-source JavaScript framework that provides class-style object-oriented features, Ajax support and DOM manipulation for building dynamic web applications, released under the MIT licence. It is a library, not a site you run: Softaculous places the files in your account. The latest release listed dates from 2015.
Project status: Softaculous lists version 1.7.3 released in September 2015, and the official GitHub repository has no published releases. The official prototypejs.org site returned a TLS certificate error when fetched, so it could not be read to confirm maintenance status. We list it because it is still available in the Softaculous installer; consider an actively maintained alternative for new projects.
