What is PunBB?
PunBB is an open-source discussion board written in PHP. It aims to be smaller, faster and less graphics-heavy than larger forum packages, producing compact standards-based pages. It supports an extension system, UTF-8 and URL rewriting. Its official repository shows no activity since 2017, so it is best treated as legacy software.
Project status: The official GitHub repository's most recent commits date from January 2017 and it has no published releases; Softaculous lists 1.4.6 (March 2021) as the latest version. The official project site did not respond when checked. Its documented requirement is PHP 5, so it may not suit current PHP versions. We list it because it is still available in the Softaculous installer; consider an actively maintained alternative for new projects.
