What is Gibbon?
Gibbon is a free, open-source school management platform built for teachers, students, parents and school leaders. It started in 2010 at International College Hong Kong and is now overseen by the Gibbon Foundation. Schools use it to keep student records, plan lessons, take attendance and record assessments in one web-based system.

Gibbon requirements
- PHP: PHP 8.0 or above (per official system requirements)
- Database: MySQL 8.0 or above (MariaDB also listed as an alternative); collation utf8mb3_general_ci
- PHP extensions: gettext, mbstring, curl, zip, xml, gd, intl
- Apache 2 or Nginx with mod_rewrite
- display_errors recommended off in production
